Financial Security

Beyond the usual benefits offered by Georgia State University, are a variety of options to secure an employee’s income upon retirement. We offer two mandatory retirement plans:  A defined benefit plan, Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS) for all non-exempt and exempt employees; and the optional Retirement Plan (ORP) for exempt employees only.  We also offer two voluntary retirement options which are 100% employee sponsored. For college savings, there is the 529 College Savings Plan is also available through payroll deduction.
